Programme, Project & Risk Management
We work across the rail sector managing both programmes of works and individual projects in terms of management, engineering and contract.
DPE, PE & CEM/CRE (design and construction)
We support Network Rail by providing project engineering staff, as part of which we ensure that the Network Rail standards and processes have been satisfied by the designer and contractor for the development of schemes adjacent to the railway boundary.
A consent to construct the works will only be permitted by Network Rail once they are satisfied that the works will not pose a risk to their infrastructure. This usually requires an Asset Protection Agreement to be drawn up between the developer and Network Rail, in which the requirements will be defined.
Since the inception of CEM and CRE, we have undertaken these roles for both design and construction and have a huge portfolio of projects acting in this capacity. This includes projects on behalf of existing rail contractors looking to fill a particular role on a project and also acting in these roles on behalf of a third party client, providing extensive support to developers, designers and contractors to allow the consents to be gained in the quickest possible time.
Value Engineering & Buildability
Our principal background has been in the delivery of rail projects for Network Rail and tier 1 contractors, where we have gained a reputation for the delivery of technically and logistically complex projects. This has been achieved through substantial involvement in design development, allowing value engineering and buildability input into the detailed design for optimum performance on site.
No matter what stage the project is at, we are experienced in reviewing and offering value engineered alternatives to ensure compliance with NR’s Group & Line Standards to:
- Reduce risk
- Simplify construction techniques
- Consider the role of temporary works to maximise high street environment daytime working
- Eliminate adjacent line opening restrictions
The team includes professionals with a wealth of experience and professional qualifications including:
- CEng MICE – Chartered Civil Engineers
- CSci – Chartered Scientist
- CEnv – Chartered Environmentalists
- CIOB- Chartered Builders
- MIEnvSC – Full member of the Institution of Environmental Sciences
- MIEMA – Full member of the Institution of Environmental Management & Assessment
Additionally, we are also an CIOB Accredited Assessment Centre.
Design, Management & Coordination (Permanent & Temporary Works)
With an in-house design capability, we are led from a construction experience perspective, where all designs are developed with a defined method of works and access. This allows our designers to focus on and control risk at construction and long-term maintenance stages in addition to delivering significant savings through this best value approach.
The benefits and success of this alternative approach has been recognised throughout the industry
Our clients include
- Network Rail
- TOCs
- Tier 1 Contractors
With expertise gained from multiple sectors we can effectively manage complex multi-disciplinary programmes, giving our clients piece of mind that our experience will ensure delivery of the scope of works within the programme duration and agreed value.
Our strength is to effectively manage designer and contractor performance, a key focus of which being the control of contract change, with the experience to effectively understand and minimise risk to all parties.
