The Project
Bespoke solar powered production facility
This bespoke 29,000ft2 fully solar powered production facility houses state of the art tea processing machines from Italy. The building has an Air Source Heat Pump system fitted which is providing heating via a combination of underfloor heating to the offices and ducted warm air to the factory. Nationwide Engineering have also set up a bespoke lease arrangement with our Solar Panel Provider whereby a fixed rate is agreed for electricity generated from panels installed on the roof of the factory.
Efficiently run by solar power
This rate is lower than SSE charge at present and is fixed for 15 years. As a result, the factory is extremely efficient to run by using solar power to generate electricity to run the Air Source Heat Pumps. Any surplus energy from the solar panels will be sent back to the National Grid. This agreement has meant that the capital cost of the solar panel installation has been negated making it a financially viable alternative for a sustainable heating design.
