Safeguarding historic rail structures across the Southern Region
Nationwide Engineering continues to play a key role in the delivery of Network Rail’s CP7 Structural Integrity Framework, a long term programme designed to protect and future-proof some of the UK’s most critical rail infrastructure.
The framework focuses on the inspection, maintenance, and enhancement of essential assets across the rail network, including bridges, tunnels, viaducts, and other heritage structures. Many of these assets date back to the Victorian era and present unique challenges relating to access, logistics, heritage constraints, and conservation requirements.
A key example is the iconic Ouse Valley Viaduct, where Nationwide Engineering is currently undertaking specialist masonry works to ensure the structure’s continued performance while preserving its architectural and historical significance.
Across Network Rail’s Southern Region, the scale and complexity of the works are extensive. Each asset requires a tailored approach, with our scope including surveys, vegetation clearance, masonry repairs, fencing, possession planning, traffic management, and associated enabling works. Our teams bring practical expertise and a commitment to quality to every site, ensuring safe and efficient delivery in challenging environments.
